WOB-AL Annual Conference 2025: The governance event no board can afford to miss In just over two months, Albania’s governance community will
On July 16, 2025, Women on Boards Albania (WOB-AL) hosted a timely and thought-provoking LinkedIn Live event titled “Women Who Lead: Boards, Investor Relations & Capital Markets.” This exclusive conversation brought together Albana Vrioni, Founder of WOB-AL, and Daniela Maior, President of the Romanian Investor Relations Association (ARIR), to explore the evolving responsibilities of leadership at the intersection of capital markets, governance, and gender equity.
As global markets become increasingly complex, the presence of women in boardrooms and strategic investor relations roles is not just a matter of representation — it’s a matter of impact. The dialogue between Albana and Daniela offered practical guidance and strategic foresight for women seeking to lead authentically in these critical spaces.
One of the key takeaways from the discussion was Daniela Maior’s framework for effective investor relations. She identified four core pillars that form the foundation of a credible and sustainable investor strategy:
Daniela reminded us that while many women are drawn to the nonprofit world, managing an NGO is often more difficult than running a business. In both arenas, financial literacy and strategic communication are essential to long-term sustainability.
-Daniela remarked with a smile, underscoring the importance of financial acumen in leadership.
Albana Vrioni introduced a critical reflection on how Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the dynamics of capital markets and boardrooms. As digital tools accelerate decision-making, they also require new levels of understanding, agility, and ethical leadership.
The question is not whether AI will change leadership — but how leaders will evolve alongside it.
“How is AI evolving capital markets? What impact does it have on new generations and board dynamics? And how can it enhance the effectiveness of today’s boards?”
This challenge opens up space for women to bring in a unique blend of intuition, empathy, and strategic oversight that’s increasingly valuable in high-stakes, data-driven environments.
Perhaps one of the most resonant insights of the conversation was Albana’s call to reframe the way we view equity and leadership.
-she said.
This reframing invites us to focus less on comparison and more on collective design, building environments where different leadership styles are not only welcomed but needed.
Daniela also emphasized the importance of personal growth and conscious leadership, stating that she continuously seeks new learning to better understand her role. And, importantly, she reminded the audience of the need for balance:
“Because as women we often care deeply about everything, it’s essential to also make time for ourselves. The more complex the work, the more conscious we need to be about preserving our well-being.”
As we build on the momentum of this conversation, preparations are well underway for the WOB-AL Annual Conference 2025, where over 150 selected leaders and changemakers will gather for an immersive day of learning and leadership.
